On the floor
The casino lists 450 slot machines. Electronic table games sit in the E-Table Stadium, and in August 2025 the general manager confirmed they are on site. Live tables run with a dealer. In 2024 the casino's pages listed 6 live table games, including Blackjack, Mississippi Stud Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold'em and Roulette. No poker room is described by the casino. The Getaway Restaurant is right off the floor, with light meals, snacks, drinks and sports on TV, plus a bar with grab-and-go food. There is no fee for My Club Rewards membership. Members bring valid ID to the Guest Services desk, then build up points on slot machines and table games.
The lot and the door
The lot comes first after the road. Parking on site is free. Guests get in only at 19 or older and with valid government-issued photo ID. Anyone aged 21 or under must add a second document that carries their name. Anyone trespassed from or self-excluded at this or any other Ontario gaming property cannot come in.
Inside, the building accommodates customers with disabilities. Communication supports, accessible formats and wheelchairs can be requested. Currency exchange, lottery and bank machines (ABMs) are all on site. Complimentary drinks cover coffee, tea and fountain pop. Other drinks are not included.

25 years by the lake
OLG opened the casino on August 28, 2000. In 2017 the Ontario government transferred it to Gateway Casinos, which committed under its agreement with the province to operate the facility for 20 years. A work crew took down the old OLG signs on the Park Avenue and Pearl Street sides of the building. New signs reading "Gateway Casino - Thunder Bay" replaced them on both sides.
Gateway Casinos & Entertainment runs the building that was formerly OLG Casino Thunder Bay. Travellers who knew the old name are looking for the same place. The casino marked 25 years in August 2025.
Online play in Ontario
Online gambling in Ontario is a separate matter from the casino on Cumberland St. South. The province's regulated online market began on April 4, 2022. Private operators offer online gambling under the conduct and management of iGaming Ontario, while the AGCO acts as regulator. Ontario permits a private online casino only when the AGCO has registered it and it holds an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. Ontario's own government-run online casino is OLG.ca.
